John the Baptist introduced the Spirit realm of the kingdom of heaven; then Jesus began spelling out what that meant.

You and I have been born from above (the same as born again) so we can “see” this spiritual realm and we have entered into it!

Now, we know that to learn as much as possible about this realm is our number one priority — to “seek first His kingdom”. How do we do this?

Listen to Jesus pray for us, “Father…You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.” [Mt.11:25-26] In other words, it’s always about revelation.

Now, connect Jesus’ prayer for us to His command to us; “Come to Me, all….. Take My yoke upon you” which means take My words, My teachings, My way of life upon you. He is saying, “learn from Me”.

Two things: (1) this is to be our way of everyday life and (2) He is simply inviting us to follow Him in His spirit realm kingdom as this is how He Himself lived!

As soon as Jesus was anointed by the Spirit, He was led by the Spirit. “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness….”[ Mt.4:1] Living in His kingdom is about being sensitive to the Holy Spirit and watching/listening for His nudges.

Another key is seen in Mt.4:4 when Jesus told Satan that He lived by every word that was proceeding from the mouth of God! Do you see how relational this is? He isn’t just living by the written word; but by the word spoken to Him by Father.

Hold God’s words in your head and your heart as you move through your day. Listen to and for the Holy Spirit even in busy moments. We can live as little “infants” inside — in fact, Jesus says it’s the only way we enter the kingdom. [Mt.18:3] Soften your eyes and ears like a child’s and notice what happens!

Here are a few questions to make this personal:

    1. What are you hearing from God these days?
    2.  How is the Holy Spirit actively leading you in practical situations?
    3.  What can you do to listen with childlike openness?

Do you have any personal stories about special events — supernatural or not, that occurred when you were experiencing the moment openly, like a child?
